Why I Built Markwise: A Founder’s Story

I remember the frustration all too well. Endless tabs, links saved in various apps, and bookmarks scattered everywhere. I’d lose track of what I needed and spend too much time searching for that one article or video. There had to be a better way, and that’s why I decided to create Markwise.

The Problem I Faced

It started with a simple goal: to make my life easier. I was constantly juggling different research projects, trying to remember what I had bookmarked and where. The feeling of hitting "save" and then forgetting what I saved was maddening. I realized I needed a system that not only saved links but also organized and made them easily searchable.

The more I talked to friends and colleagues, the more I discovered I wasn’t alone. Many people were struggling with similar issues: tab overload, losing important links, and forgetting what they had bookmarked. It became clear that this problem was widespread and needed a solution.

The Solution: Markwise

I envisioned Markwise as an AI-powered knowledge manager that could do everything I wished I had. I wanted a tool that allowed me to save anything from the web—links, highlights, videos with timestamps—and find them instantly. I also wanted to incorporate features like highlight anything on the web and summarize saved articles, which could save so much time.

With the BrainBar Command Palette and dedicated Spaces for projects and research, I aimed to create an all-in-one solution. I wanted it to be intuitive and efficient, allowing users to focus on what matters. That’s how Markwise was born.

Why This Matters

Today, Markwise is more than just a bookmarking tool. It's a personal knowledge base that helps you stay organized and productive. No more losing important links or feeling overwhelmed by browser tabs. With Markwise, you can save YouTube video highlights, use semantic bookmark search, and streamline your research process—all in one place.

If you’re tired of wasting time searching for links or losing track of your research, I invite you to try Markwise. Let’s make productivity a little easier together.
